carpe diem and all that jazz...

Home"spatio brevi spem longam reseces..."May 4, 2005
Yes I did take Latin at some point in my life. Indeed it was a blur, having to cram in 2 years in the span of 1 year. Did I learn anything? Lots of prayers, and how to say "The girl is beautiful." and " There are farmers in Gaul." Not exactly the most practical things...

Later in life, the movie with Robin Williams (The Dead Poets' Society) popularized the phrase taken from the latin poem by Horace "Carpe Diem" - seize the day. The poem doesn't push one to be rash and rush head on towards the unknown or to live with abandon...but to "scale back your long hopes to a short period." Instead of making a list of "Things to Do Before I Die," and ending there or wondering why you're stuck where you are, use that list as a starting point but START DOING SOMETHING...not later, but NOW!

I've revamped this welcome page a tad, to urge myself to just that, "Seize the Day." Thanks for stopping in to share in this Journey. Maybe this'll get you some of you to do the same. There'll be a list of Things I Want to Do...and you'll see how I go about doing some of those things. You can dream of going to Antartica, flying to the moon, or telling someone they are important to you - all of which can be difficult tasks...But start thinking, start doing and start living...

Here's to living life...the greatest adventure of all!

Blog EntryMusings of a MAD WomanJan 26, 2008
I think Peter Pan had the right idea...you know... "I won't grow up! I won't grow up!" Unfortunately that's getting hard to do. Yes, at 34 I should consider myself grown up. But honestly, it doesn't feel like it. Many folks my age already own... more

“May your year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope somewhere in the year, you surprise yourself... “
-(Neil Gaiman)

Belated happy birthday cuz! Sorry for the delay. I had to get my 11th MRI scan last month and umm.. well... they found more lesions in my spine.. and now some flare-ups in my brain too. I'm still on morphine and my other neuropathic anti-convulsants.. plus, steroids. I was supposed to be confined but I convinced my doc to let me do the whole steroid treatment thing as an out-patient. Marc was here for 3 weeks
(I posted our latest pics for you). It was very frustrating.. I'm starting to think I need to meet someone new.. lol.. Hayyy.. I'll tell you about it another time. Anyway, how are you? How was your bday? I hope it was a memorable day, chica. Anyway, time for my meds and to lay down. I miss you girl. Big huggies... Mwaaah!
Love you! .. P.S. Should I be able to text you using the CP number you gave me? I wasn't sure, so I decided to leave you a message here instead. :-)
